RESEARCH

Background

Microinsurance is an emerging field that is growing rapidly within the development sector. Right now, there are more questions than answers, yet the MIA seeks to find ethical and responsible solutions. We are committed to high-quality evidence-based research to advance sectoral learning and determine the impact microinsurance. We work to bring forward debates within the academia and assess methodologies and approaches to carry microinsurance forward.

Our Capacity

We have a team of high caliber researchers specializing in quantitative and qualitative techniques, spatial analysis, statistical analysis, econometrics and systematic reviews. Our team works in cooperation with leading academic institutions in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. We strive to be in direct contact with the reality of low-income households and benefit from world-class academic resources.

Our Approach

The MIA represents the link between academia and grassroots organisations. We aim to be the bridge between these actors, raising the concerns of each and integrating them into our research design.

Action

Our research profile includes rigorous baseline and endline studies, impact assessments, systematic reviews, feasibility studies, and pilot projects. We ensure the results are disseminated to inform policy-makers, donors, beneficiaries and general stakeholders in the form of peer-reviewed academic journals and reports.
